Who we are

Same Day Car Scrap is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. In data protection terms, we are the data controller.

You can contact us about privacy by emailing samedaycarscrap@gmail.com or calling 07442 493 941.

Information we collect

When you request a quote or contact us, we may collect:

  • your vehicle registration number;
  • your postcode;
  • your telephone number;
  • details you provide in later calls, emails or messages about your vehicle and collection; and
  • basic technical and security information generated when you use the website or submit the form, such as an IP address, browser information and submission time; and
  • if you accept analytics, information about how you use the site, including pages viewed, approximate location, device information and online identifiers.

How and why we use your information

We use this information to prepare and respond to quote requests, contact you, arrange vehicle collection, keep appropriate business records, protect the website and form from misuse, resolve disputes and comply with legal obligations.

Our lawful bases are taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, performing any contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting our business and responding to enquiries, and compliance with legal obligations where applicable. We rely on your consent for Google Analytics; you can withdraw that consent at any time through the Cookie settings control.

Providing information through the quote form is optional, but we cannot provide or follow up a quote without the requested details. We do not use the form data for unrelated marketing unless we separately tell you and have an appropriate lawful basis.

Who receives your information

We use service providers that help operate the website, deliver quote submissions, provide hosting, email and IT security. This currently includes Formspree for processing and delivering form submissions, Hostinger for website hosting and, if you accept analytics, Google Analytics for website measurement. We may also disclose information to professional advisers, insurers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or other parties where required by law or reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not sell your personal information.

International transfers

Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. For example, Formspree states that its services use infrastructure in the United States and that it relies on Standard Contractual Clauses as a data processor. Google may also process analytics information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we rely on appropriate contractual safeguards, UK adequacy regulations or another lawful transfer mechanism.

How long we keep information

We normally retain quote enquiries and related correspondence for up to 24 months after the enquiry is closed. We may keep information longer where necessary for accounting, tax, insurance, dispute-resolution or other legal requirements. When information is no longer required, we will delete it or anonymise it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Cookies and third-party services

We use Google Analytics 4 only if you select “Accept analytics” in our cookie banner. Google Analytics helps us understand visits, popular pages and how visitors use the site. It may use cookies and similar identifiers and send usage information to Google. We do not enable advertising storage or personalised advertising through this tag.

Analytics is off by default. Your choice is stored in your browser so the site can remember it. You can accept, reject or withdraw analytics consent at any time using the Cookie settings control displayed on the site. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics loading and removes Google Analytics cookies accessible to this site.

The site also uses service providers and resources including Formspree, Hostinger, Google Fonts and the Formspree form library. These providers may receive technical information needed to deliver and secure their services.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to:

  • access your personal information;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • request erasure;
  • restrict processing;
  • object to processing;
  • receive portable data; and
  • complain to a supervisory authority.

Your right to object: where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object to our use of your personal information. We will stop processing it unless we have compelling legitimate grounds or need it for legal claims.

To exercise your rights, email samedaycarscrap@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

Complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, through ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or legal obligations change. The latest version will always be published on this page with its revision date.
